Dead Rising 3: 7 Facts in 7 Days: Day 1
Oh, how the Dead Rising series has changed the way I look at shopping malls. Every time I visit the local mall I can’t help but get the urge to pick up the nearest wooden bench and start bashing the fuck out of people. As disturbing as that sounds, lets be honest. That would be amazing! It was just two weeks ago when we ranked Dead Rising 3 as our #3 game on our most anticipated games of holiday 2013 countdown. Even though Democracy put the game lower on the list, I would have liked it to be #1. It’s the undeniable charm of the characters and its humor/horror combination that really gets my main vein bulging. Over the next 7 days we will covering 7 facts about Dead Rising 3 that are really getting us excited! Here we go!
#1. Good ol Dead Rising difficulty is back!
In an interview with OXM at Gamescom, Capcom Vancouver’s producer Mike Jones said “It’s probably the most difficult Dead Rising game we’ve ever made.”
This is great news for veteran Dead Rising fans. There are a lot of people that despise the timer system in the Dead Rising series. I mean really despise it. Despite those that hate it, I personally loved the stress that the timer system brought to the original games. Without the timer in the game, the real challenge is lost for me. It not only gives the games a real challenge, it added replayability to the games as well. It can take you multiple playthroughs to really master the routes you take while saving survivors and to figure out where the most important weapons and items are laid within the world. Those of you that are on the opposite spectrum than me, worry no more. Capcom is aiming to please both sides. According to Mike Jones, you will be able to select Infinity Mode which is a much more laid back version of the campaign that allows for free roaming and no time limits; and for us that enjoy the extra challenge you can select the new Nightmare mode. Not only will Nightmare mode bring back time restrictions for saving survivors, it will bring back the part of the game where you are required to save inside of the bathrooms. Urinal saving is back!
